You're not allowed in a racetrack paddock unless you have business being there,
especially for an overnight stay. Being there means you're a part of the action.

In the world of racing, there is no more significant event than the 24 Hours
of Lemans. It is still driven largely on the roads of the French countryside.
Being there in close proximity to the race would allow me to see the place just
as the drivers see it.
I was in LeMans the week before the 2006 race, but did not get to drive on the Mulsanne.
Oh well, calls for another trip to the beautiful French countryside!

I'm really not a NASCAR guy, although I do admire their ability to market their product
and bring fans and sponsors into the sport. I admired NASCAR more when they raced actual
stock (based) cars instead of the "cafe' cars" of today. Driving on the beach
circuit recalls a time when stock car racing was just that, stock cars, racing! And on the sand at that. As
several of these goal attest, I love the history and nostalgia of racing.
I was in Daytona for the Rolex 24 and got away to drive a bit on the beach course.

After owning a pair of Corvette C5s, I can attest that I'm not really a Corvette
kind of guy (I still have my hair and I don't have a beer gut). However, I
recognize the place that the Corvette has in American racing history. A visit
to the NCM pays tribute to that heritage.

Regarded as the top museum in the world for cool cars, it is a place that
I must see. I've read about it since I was a kid. I know it will be great.
